Family Days Out in the Garden of England
From a lazy day by the lakes in Manor Park to exploring the beautiful grounds at Leeds Castle there is so much to do in Kent this summer and so we have picked our top three local family outings for this summer.
Less than a 20 minute drive away from West Malling is the Hop Farm in Paddock Wood. Based around the world’s largest oast village, this was once a very busy working farm producing hops. Today you can relive the history of the farm, exploring the interactive museum and grounds. With activities for smaller children as well as older ones including laser tag, an adventure playground and workshops, there is also a petting zoo, with goats, donkeys, rabbits, guinea pigs and even llamas.
Under half an hour away is the beautiful Leeds Castle, which has seen Norman conquerors, medieval kings and queens, and influential heiresses reside there. Known as ‘The loveliest castle in the world’ it has a fascinating museum, beautiful gardens with a maze and regular exhilarating falconry displays.
A little closer to home in West Malling itself is Manor Park, where families can feed the swans and ducks by the lake and explore the expansive playing field and enjoy the adventure playground.
We are open Wednesday to Sunday from midday until 10pm, and the perfect way to set your family up for a fun filled afternoon or to round the day off with some delicious Italian food.
